Corona virus response

Update 17th March 5.15pm

In line with Government guidance and clear advice received from the Baptist Union West of England Baptist Network, Church of England, Methodist Church, United Reformed Church, public worship services and all midweek group meetings are now suspended at Locking Castle Church for the time being.

Although we will not be meeting together in person, the Kingdom of God is still very much living and growing through faith in God our Father, the hope of Jesus Christ and the love of the Holy Spirit inspiring our prayers and loving service.

Archbishop Justin and Archbishop John have issued a joint letter  urging us to become 'a different sort of church in these coming months: hopeful and rooted in the offering of prayer and praise and overflowing in service to the world.'

Gary Woodall, Regional Baptist Minister writes that this could be a time of deepening discipleship: 'The history of the Church is testimony that whenever the people of God are subject to big challenges the outcomes are frequently fruitful ones, in terms of faith and faithfulness. We encourage you to be prayerful and creative. This may be a time when we can help people deepen their engagement with scripture, their relationship with God in prayer and grasp something fresh about the nature and purpose of church.'

We are still hoping to live-stream simplified worship on Facebook at 10:30am on Sunday. This week Tom and Andy will discuss the current situation and what we can do as a church to support one another and our local community.

Please do email coronacare@lockingcastlechurch.org if you or someone you know need any help or support.

In the meantime, we pray that God will heal all those affected and bring peace in this situation.

Let’s look out for one another, especially those who may be isolated, vulnerable or fearful at this time and declare the promises of Psalm 91 on their behalf!
